Ritual Of Spoons
Every day, we shape and reshape who we are. Identity is not fixed but fluid - formed through gestures, routines, relationships, and transitions. In Rituals of Becoming, emerging Belgian jewellery artists explore how adornment can give form to these moments of inner transformation.
Ritual of Spoons (2025) a triptych that transforms simply, everyday objects into an installation focused on memory, renewal and the passage of time. De Verney collected around 100 spoons from flea markets and arranged them into a dedicated network that traces human preces and absence. Visitors are invited to move and reposition the spoons, creating patterns that change with each interaction and revealing the subtle ways people leave their mark. Drawing inspiration from votive traditions of classical and Byzantine cultures, the work reimagines ritual for a contemporary context. In this intimate sensory environment, the materials themselves, express care and connection, inviting visitors to consider their own relationship to time and presence.
Shown in 2025 at Gallery National 55 Antwerp, BE as part of Obsessed! Jewelry Festival, curated by Unpolished.
